SUMMARY:Bangla Surf Girl - Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join the Center for Asian Studies\, International Film Series CU Boulder\, and Alma Collective for a special screening of “Bangla Surf Girls” — an observational coming-of-age documentary about three teenage girls who get a rare sense of agency over their lives when they join a surf club. Over the course of three years\, we follow Suma\, Ayesha and Shobe as they fight unsurmountable odds to follow their dreams. \nAt a time when so many girls around the world are told what they can and cannot do\, “Bangla Surf Girls” offers a quiet but powerful counterpoint. This film invites us to see agency and self-determination as something worth claiming\, no matter the obstacles in the way\, reminding us that freedom often begins with one small\, defiant choice. \nClick here to grab your FREE ticket! \nGenerously sponsored by the Center for Asian Studies & International Film Series at CU Boulder.
